On my living room wall I have a framed autographed Sonic Youth poster surrounded by photographs of me, my friends Ronnie and John, and Sarah Lipstate, mingling with Sonic Youth after their August 2002 show at Tipitina's. About 2 weeks after that show Sarah moved to Austin for school at UT, and then to Brooklyn in 2007. Since then she has played with a couple of indie bands and done a lot of solo shows under the moniker "Noveller". She's also done some nice film work. She's toured the States and Europe and spent some time as a lesbian icon with dialogues in various print publications. She's been interviewed by Village Voice and opened a few shows for Jesus Lizard. She's friends with their bassist David Wm Sims and they have done some recording together. She even has a couple of releases on vinyl, available on Amazon as well as her website store. And now, you can go to her site and watch about a 5-minute excerpt of a 45-minute dual-guitar improv show that she did earlier this year with Lee Ranaldo from Sonic Youth. From playing trombone in the Lafayette High band to jamming with Jesus Lizard and Sonic Youth. When she started working at Toys she had never heard "Sympathy For The Devil", much less anything from the American indie-rock lexicon. I feel like a proud daddy. Check it out.

Add me to the list of being impressed.

I also listened to samples of Glacial Glow. I didn't get around to listening to her other releases yet, but I liked Glacial Glow a lot.

Both the records I have by her are very good.  I think it's pretty cool that the two musical entities from Lafayette who've had the most success on the underground scene nationally are a female and a female-fronted band.
